After a bloody post-election crisis, Kenya has found a political solution. Once again, we have found ourselves resolving or countering a political impasse by throwing high paying jobs at a select few. To stop politicians from interfering with our day to day lives, and using Kenya's hordes of unemployed, embittered and disillusioned youth as canon fodder in their power struggles, we have offered them plum jobs. We have a negotiated solution that will see the cost of government go up in a country which, already, "devotes a disproportionate shares of its taxes on administration and wages at the expense of provision of services."

User's guide to beating ODM
Stephen Wanyama publishes a list of proposals that the PNU could adopt in catching up with an overtaking the ODM party at the polls. This follows polls results that show the Party of National Unity is lagging behind in almost all the provinces.
There are many Kenyans who see this year's election as a titanic battle between good and evil. I don't quite share that view, my opinion being that both sides have let Kenya down immensely.

On Public Expenditure and Wealth Creation

The two horse race
One way or the other, a majority of Kenyans are affected by poverty, insecurity, low quality education, inadequate health services, a lack of social welfare programs and huge disparities in income.
Growing unemployment, tribalism, massive corruption, disempowerment, escalating prices of basic commodities and a desperate hopelessness are also continuing to ravage our society.

The Nation Does it Again and Again

A lot has been made in the past few weeks about the use of insulting language in politics. The warnings against incitement and provocative behavior were targeted mainly at the political class. In the past week however, the Daily Nation has shown that it too is deserving of a telling off. On the 28th of April, under the same campaign that led to a vicious attack on Mwingi South Mp Kalonzo Musyoka, the Nation Group hid behind a Special Correspondent of some sort to issue what is truly a vicious round of invective against the MP for Langata and aspirant for the ODM-K Presidential ticket.
